“Amongst the evening’s strongest moments was Diane Landry’s waltz of visual scratching. Using two turntables, she displayed casual objects lit from the side, which became swaying and distorted shadows on a kinetic movie screen made of photograms. Like a DJ, Diane Landry operated with her back to the public as she composed pictures by constantly changing objects. Here, references to photography as well as to turntablist techniques—the scratching sound of the needle included—supported a performance limited only by the formal restraints of the projections obtained. A great idea.”
