  • Stockpile, installation-performance with a group of nine Canadian artists, curator: Denise Markonish & Jorn Weisbrodt, Festival Luminato, Brookfield Place, Toronto (Ontario, Canada).

What happens when nine visual artists from across Canada collaborate on a single installation? Stockpile… an interactive performance spectacle in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. Come one, come all to a life-sized arcade-style claw machine filled with useful objects donated by the community along with special surprises. As the artists themselves become the claw, see if you can manipulate them into delivering the prize you desire while contemplating this carnivalesque exchange of value and examining what winning and losing means to the collective. Participating artists, selected by Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art curator Denise Markonish and Luminato Festival artistic director Jorn Weisbrodt, were part of Markonish's recent MASS MoCA exhibition Oh, Canada. From across Canada, representing a wide spectrum of disciplines and backgrounds, they include Dean Baldwin, Brendan Fernandes, Diane Landry, Divya Mehra, Luanne Martineau, Graeme Patterson, Ed Pien, Charles Stankievech and Mitchell Wiebe.
